Solar Energy Mining (SOLEMI) is a new service set up by the DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) providing high-quality irradiance data for the solar energy community.
The service is mainly based on Meteosat-data with a nominal spatial resolution of 2.5 km and half-hourly temporal resolution. Solar radiation maps and hourly time series will be available for almost half of the Earth's surface:

Novelties provided by SOLEMI will be:
- Fast access to Meteosat-7 and Meteosat-5 full disc and full resolution
- Operational high resolution irradiance data for Africa and large parts of Asia
- An operational data base of more than 10 years of satellite data
